The Tree Council’s Young Tree Champions look at schools that have demonstrated a continued commitment to trees and nature.  Beacon schools share and promote their messages with other schools and the community to further awareness on issues like deforestation, biodiversity, and climate change.  Each year there is a further award for two schools which have gone the extra mile. This year, Nelson Academy’s work with our Earth Day Festival, our outdoor learning program and some of our other eco-programs have impressed the Tree Council’s selection panel - awarding us the right to use the title of Outstanding Beacon School.
