What an incredible year it has been for the Nelson Academy Theatre Club, culminating in a truly outstanding production of Oliver!.
The Theatre Club ran from September right through to June, giving our talented young performers the opportunity to develop their confidence, creativity and performance skills. Week after week, the children showed incredible commitment and dedication, learning songs, rehearsing scenes and working towards auditions for their individual parts.
As the months went by, it was wonderful to watch the children grow in confidence and see the production gradually come to life. Every member of the cast played an important role, and the commitment they showed throughout the year was something to be incredibly proud of.
🎟️ A Trip to the West End
To add even more excitement to their theatre experience, the Theatre Club travelled to London to watch the West End production of Oliver!.
Seeing a professional production was an amazing opportunity for the children. They were able to experience the magic of live theatre from the audience and see the music, acting, costumes, set and production values that go into creating a West End show. It was a fantastic experience and provided plenty of inspiration as they continued working towards their own performance.

After months of rehearsals, the big moment finally arrived!
The children performed Oliver! once to the whole school, followed by two evening performances for their families. Each performance was filled with energy, enthusiasm and some truly memorable moments.
Our children were absolutely amazing. They performed with confidence, enthusiasm and professionalism, demonstrating just how much they had developed throughout the year.
But a production like this doesn't happen without an incredible team behind the scenes. A huge amount of work went into creating the show, and our staff deserve enormous credit for their dedication and commitment.
From the stunning set and fantastic costumes to the music, choreography and overall production, every detail helped to make the performances something very special.

The Theatre Club has been about so much more than putting on a show. It has been about teamwork, resilience, confidence, creativity and dedication. The children have supported one another, challenged themselves and discovered what they can achieve when they work together.
Watching them take to the stage after so many months of hard work was a truly proud moment for everyone at Nelson Academy.
A huge well done to every single member of our Theatre Club and a heartfelt thank you to all of the staff who gave their time, energy and passion to make the production possible.
From the first rehearsal in September to the final curtain in June, Oliver! has been an incredible journey — and one that has created memories that our children, staff and families will treasure for years to come.
