Year 2 Trip to Wisbech Museum

Year 2 went on a school trip to the Wisbech and Fenland Museum.

The children found out about Lord Alexander Peckover, collector and curator of ancient Egyptian objects, and his impact on Wisbech and Fenland Museum. The children explored the Museum’s collection of ancient Egyptian objects up-close, to learn more about their purpose and to identify the different artforms present in the collection. They also explored how to ‘read’ ancient Egyptian art before making their own self-portraits and clay amulets in a similar style. It was an enjoyable and educational day that supported our curriculum in a memorable way.

The children will also receive an Arts Award Discover Certificate at a later date, which is a credited award from Trinity College London in association with Arts Council England. This will be because they will have participated in the art events throughout the day, getting excited about arts and culture and the certificate celebrates their creative achievements.
