A celebration of Mother Earth.

Nelson Academy celebrated its first ever Earth Day, which was a huge success thanks to our Eco-Warrior Katrina Boyes, who organised the whole event.

The day focused on ways that we can help our environment and our planet, by reusing, recycling, and reducing our waste to promote sustainable living.

There was a car boot sale, a crafts area, storytelling in the new outdoor classroom, lots of eco demonstrations and stalls selling handmade items.

Friends Of Nelson (FON) were on hand with refreshments throughout the day, selling hot dogs and bacon baps. They were also selling FON merchandise to raise money for our school. They raised an amazing £655.92.

Even the children got involved, with the Nelson Singers performing in front of a big crowd and a lovely group of students who put on a wonderful puppet show.

The day ended with a raffle taking place and many prizes being won.

Families came to show their support and lots of money was raised for our school.
